The history of technology in education

Hello Everyone!

September 23, 2017, second meeting of our Educational technology subject. The lesson yesterday was amazing because it exposed the the real truth on what the history of educational technology is. It is not about the high technology gadgets only it is about how education developed from B.C.E to A.D. through the use of technology.

The video below was presented to us by our professor Mrs. Angelica Olivar yesterday. Here's the summary of the dates and its content:

30,000 B.C.E. Cave Drawings
510 B.C.E. Phytagoras Academy
105 Paper Made in China
382 Manuscript Transcription
1450 Gutenburg Printing press
1600 Public Education
1700 Public Education (Blackboards, Chalkboard slates)
1800 Public Education (Books)
1910 Audiovisual age
1920 Audiovisual age (Radio)
1930 Audiovisual age (Film strip projector)
1940 Audiovisual age (Overhead projector)
1960 Information Age (Television)
1970 Information Age (VCR, VHS tape)
1980 Information Age (Audio tape)
1990 Computer Age
1991 Computer Age (First SMART Board interactive whiteboard)
1995 The Digital Age
2000 The Interactive Age (Smart Response LE, PE, XE, Laptop, Document Camera)

If you have watched the video educational technology is not just the advanced technology gadgets today, it's about how people manage to create and innovate technology on what is available in their environment. Just for example on 30,000 B.C.E. the humans usually live in cave, they have no proper education at that time, their way of communicating is through creating sounds based on what they usually heard in their surroundings, and in order for them to remember those is through illustrating it on the walls of the cave. And then later on academies were developed, into writings on paper made in china, into printing press developed and made in Germany, into introducing of Public education run by the government, into audiovisual age the development of radio, into information age wherein televisions where developed and used, into computer age to digital age, and now Interactive age wherein all people right can communicate in just a split of seconds (e.g., email, chat, video calls)

Nowadays everything is instant, you can easily browse information if you have an internet connection, data on your mobile phones. The history really improved and still improving. The question if you have finished watching the video "how will you shape the classroom of tomorrow?"

For me using these innovative technologies is a plus in education, but not necessarily. There are times that the class needs these technologies, it really depends on the situation, what the institution, school or universities where I'm in are imposing. The thing is I need to prepare myself for my future students, meaning I need to be constantly trained, and practiced to adapt the changes in educational technology and make use of these developments in educating my future students.

Moving forward while I'm browsing the internet, these quotation caught my eyes. See the picture below. It says "If you don't control your mind, someone else will." By John Allston

One topic that our professor tackled is how the society in the world conditions our mind. The hidden agenda is for the commercialism to spread and worked. To be specific to trade, to purchased any valuable things that they advertised, usually they focused on what is lacking from us. A strategic way of people to make business to generate money and to be able cycle it. We the consumers were being enticed to have those thingy in life. Well we must face it, that is the reality. We may be the consumer or the maker of all things no matter if it's a hardware or software.

That's all for today, thanks for reading. Sayonara!

Cell vs. virus: A battle for health - Shannon Stiles

IMMUNITY

According to Meriam Webster Dictionary the definition of Immunity is the quality or state of  being immune; especially : a condition of being able to resist a particular disease especially through preventing development of pathogenic microorganism or by counteracting the effects of its products.

As you watch the video you wills see how the cell is working when a virus came in to our body. The coordination of the parts of the cell to create anti bodies to fight the virus.

Interesting isn't it?

Imagine according to the scientist there are about 37 trillion of the cells inside or body working together to keep us running smoothly.

So it only means that we should not abuse our body, we should also take care of our body to help these tiny cells (basic unit of life) by eating healthy foods, exercise regularly and have enough rest.

Enjoy watching!

Read, read and read!

Read, read and READ!

Good Day everyone!

Hi, This is my first blog ever! dated September 17, 2017. While I'm writing this I am so excited.

Well my professor in TUP-T (Technological University of the Philippines-Taguig) Ma'am Olivar inspired us to make one.

Welcome to the blog world Aveleth and to all the newbies!.

Amazing is'nt it? It feels like a freshmen, a newbie here. I hope this will develop my reading and writing skills. Wishing that I have used my past teenage years to invest my time on this wonderful blog site.

Well it's never too late, were still young and we can still explore and learn everyday constantly through reading. Yes you've read it right! Our professor inspired us to read and read and read.

I will tell you something...

I am not actually a fan of reading books, yes I do read, but not at all time. I easily got bored and I can't mange just to read a book, if it is a requirement (example we have an exams) I will push my self to read an academic subject books.

My eyes get easily tired when I'm reading, I am more into visuals, watching videos. And I think by this blog it will definitely help me change my views and opinions in reading as i have discovered more about reading.

I am grateful to Ma'am Angelica F. Olivar who inspired us to be a blogger, she is our professor in Educational Technology 1 (Instructional Media Resources) this second term in BTTE (Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education) SY 2017-2018. And this will really help us, we the teachers in the future!

One thing that have caught my eyes while I'm browsing the internet. I saw this quote "Reading books would only be boring if you lack imagination." I was like "this is me!" definitely me!. As I have mentioned earlier I am not really into reading books. I do imagine things. But of course if you have read a lot of books it will definitely  help you to imagine precisely and accurate.

Well I'm really surprised by the message in the picture below, it really stroked my views and perception in reading. I hope I 'll learn to read, read and read, learn, learn and learn.

And lastly I hope you guys will be also inspired to read and learn. Ciao.
